Dear World,
Welcome to Dreams from the Greenstone! You may be wondering what the Greenstone even is. The answer is in my upcoming novel, tentatively titled "The Greenwitch".
I've been wanting to start a blog for awhile now to exhibit some of the progress I've made on my novel. Everyone who knows me keeps asking, what is it about? When will it be finished? Also I'm doing this to form a daily writing habit. Sure, I write a lot, but not as much as I'd like to, and not every day. For the next month I'm going to write at least a little bit every day (yeesh, even on the weekends). Thank you for the kick in the butt I need, Random Acts of Amazon.
I don't have a huge amount of time to write fiction today. It's day one of the May Dietbet I entered, and I am determined not to lose my $20.00, so I've been working out more than I usually do. (After all, that's a lot of money for an unpublished writer like myself.) But here goes:
It's time to officially unveil my work of the last few months. For everyone who asks what I'm writing, I will direct them here to these summaries:
Book 1 of The Greenstone: "The Greenwitch"
"War rages in western Arainia: the Rebellion, made up of mostly farmers and serfs, has taken up arms against the Leader and his autocratic government. The only safe havens left are the tree-top villages in the eastern Great Forest. It is here, in the most remote village, where Robin Mestah, daughter of a prominent Rebel healer, is left to act as Greenwitch for her people in her mother's place.
It seems as though her village will continue to remain untouched by the war, but Robin begins having strange prophetic dreams of a Princess from a faraway land who is held captive. She can tell little from these dreams except that she must rescue this Princess, and at any cost. This may not be enough, though, as the Leader's personal gang, the Yalu, form plans to destroy all Rebel sympathizers in the land.
In order to save herself and everything she holds dear, Robin, along with her twin brother Rory and friend Iris, daughter of a refugee Lord, must find and save this Princess, and she must come into a strange power that she has only just begun to understand."
I am also writing a short story prequel, and when my permanent website is up, will post snippets.
"Fire Child" (Prequel to The Greenstone Series)
"Iris Aru, daughter of the Viscount Lyden, leads the very ordinary humdrum life of a young lady of quality. Learning to be an accomplished young lady holds no appeal for her, and one night, while her family is holding a ball, she sneaks out for a moonlit ride. After all, this is the only time she is able to be free. When she is caught by a group of Rebels who mistake her for a spy, her life begins to change drastically."
For anyone who ever read my original book, "The Greenstone", that I wrote 15 years ago (cringe), this will be an interesting read for you, as it tells a bit of Iris's previous life before the war and how she comes to meet Robin.
I hope to have "Fire Child" published to Kindle soon. I am still working out the ending, and it is still in it's first-draft-vomit stage (and almost 11k words, yikes).
Happy reading!
